Women’s Hospital

Our Clinical Research Site

During the last year, we were recruiting our participants at Women’s Hospital, in the NICU and the Postnatal Unit.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Women’s Hospital provides the highest level of care for high-risk or critically ill newborns. Babies suffering from serious medical concerns caused by being born too early (prematurity), respiratory distress, cardiac disease, congenital anomalies, multi-system organ failure and other problems are cared for in this specialized, highly advanced unit.

Why we are conducting the study in Qatar?

Through this study we aim to evaluate the outcome for pregnancies delivering before 37 completed weeks of gestation in Qatar within the context of their medical, psychological, social and emotional development. The study will set the foundations for a longitudinal study of the effects of prematurity in the lifespan, which will be evaluated in comparison to studies of similar populations or sub-populations recruited in other countries, particularly the UK.
